Backdraft Smiths (stylized as BACKDRAFT SMITHS) is a Japanese punk rock/alternative rock band. Originally formed in 2006 under the name HI-GOD VOICE, they changed their name to its current form in 2013. The band was founded by Yu Arakawa, who performed vocals and guitar, along with Yuya Ogawa on guitar, Yuki Konishi on bass guitar, and Katsuhiro Narita on drums. Arakawa left the band in 2017, stepping down from the public stage, and was later replaced by Daichi, who also departed in 2021. In 2022, the band decided to continue as a three-piece unit, with Ogawa taking over as vocalist.[1]
Backdraft Smiths contributed eight insert songs to the New Initial D the Movie trilogy. "Candle Flames" and "We'll Start Our Race" were featured in Initial D Legend 1: Awakening, while "The Brave" and "Carry On" were included in Initial D Legend 2: Racer. Their songs "Crank It Up," "Curious (D Mix)," "The Dependance," and "September 7th's Day (D Version)" appeared in Initial D Legend 3: Dream.
