Chapter 007

Iketani's Humiliating Crash! (無残! 池谷クラッシュ!!, Muzan! Iketani Kurasshu!!, "Oh no! Iketani Crashes!!") is the seventh chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Iketani speeds into the corner, and is able to narrowly dodge the oncoming car when it swerves into the other lane. Iketani is unable to react in time to stop himself from crashing into the guardrail. The driver of the oncoming car stops and approaches the Silvia, yelling at him for driving so recklessly. He stops yelling when he realises Iketani is injured, and calls him an ambulance.

The next day at the gas station Kenji tells a shocked Takumi and Itsuki about Iketani's crash. Kenji says that they'll be able to fix the car, but not in time for the race on Saturday.

An injured Iketani visits his car at the repair shop.

At night, Bunta visits Yuichi at the gas station. The two talk about Iketani, and Bunta tells him that he won't be racing on the SpeedStars behalf. Yuichi implies he should send Takumi up, but Bunta's unsure if he could convince him to go.

At the tofu store, Takumi asks Bunta if he can use the car on Sunday. Bunta tells him that he needs the car to attend a meeting, much to Takumi's annoyance. Bunta makes him an offer, he can have the car on Sunday with a full tank of gas if he heads to Akina on Saturday and beats the RedSuns. Takumi is shocked, and decides to sleep on it.

At the Takahashi Mansion, Ryosuke asks Keisuke for more information on the Eight-Six he had seen on Akina, so that he can build a better simulation. Keisuke is unable to tell Ryosuke very much, commenting that he would be able to tell everything just by seeing the car corner. Ryosuke decides to come to Akina on Saturday to see the Eight-Six in person.

  • The cover of this chapter is the same as the reverse cover of Volume 01.
  • An authors note on one of the pages says that Keisuke is "Not Gun". This is Shigeno referencing his earlier manga Bari Bari Legend, whose protagonist, Gun Koma, shares some resemblance to Keisuke.
