The "Friendly Battle" Begins! (交流戦突入!!, Kōryū sen Totsunyū!!, "Rush into the Exhibition Battle!!") is the eighth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

On Saturday, Itsuki reminds Takumi that it's the day of the battle between the SpeedStars and the RedSuns.

Iketani heads to the tofu store to see Bunta. Bunta tells Iketani that he might show up to Akina, but that he shouldn't plan on it. Iketani believes that he'll show, and says they'll wait until the very last minute.

Natsuki spends time with her Papa, and tells him that she's going to the beach with a friend.

Takumi walks home with Itsuki, and tells him he's going to the beach with a girl, much to Itsuki's shock.

That evening, Yuichi watches the cars heading towards Akina from the gas station, and expresses excitement about the race.

At the top of Akina, Iketani tells the other SpeedStars about how Keisuke was beaten by an Eight-Six, much to their disbelief. He asks them to trust him, but sets Kenji up as their backup in case the Eight-Six doesn't show.

The crowd watches in awe as the RedSuns arrive, lead by the Takahashi brothers.
