The Sparking Switchback! (火花散らすラインクロス!!, Hibana Chirasu Rain Kurosu!!, "A line cross that scatters sparks!!") is the forty-ninth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

The two cars race into the final corner. Ryosuke moves to the inside to block, as Takumi takes the outside line. The grip on Ryosuke's tires isn't enough to keep him in the inside, and the FC slides towards the outside, allowing Takumi to move in and take the inner line. Takumi exits the final corner in the lead, and the two cars cross the finish line.

Nakazato and Shingo are amazed by the battle they've just witnessed, and both of them consider buying FRs.

News of Ryosuke's defeat makes its way to the start line, leaving all of the spectators in a stunned silence.

Ryosuke and Takumi pull up on the side of a road and talk.
