Love in a Cool Place: Dark Clouds Gather! (暗雲立ちこめる避暑地の恋, Anun Tachikomeru Hisho Chi no Koi, "Dark clouds over summer love") is the fifty-second chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Kenji, Itsuki and Takumi follow behind Iketani on his way to Karuizawa. Kenji is surprised Iketani isn't driving faster. He tells the others that Iketani is likely exaggerating, as he's done so since they were kids. While speaking, he accidentally accelerates too much, and they are noticed by Iketani.
The group pulls over at the next rest stop, and they explain to Iketani that they just wanted to see how Mako looks. Iketani gives in and agrees to let them meet her, not wishing for them to waste the toll they had paid to get onto the expressway.
In Karuizawa, Iketani introduces the trio to Mako before they leave on their date. The three of them are shocked by how Iketani was able to go on a date with such a cute girl. The three decide to go to Usui Pass.
On their date, Iketani asks Mako what cars she likes, and is surprised when she mentions the FC3S. They talk about racing, and Iketani hopes that he can show her the ropes.
On Usui, Kenji is surprised by how difficult the course is. The group pull up to a gas station, and the attendant recognises their team sticker and mentions the Eight-Six. Kenji asks what the best car on Usui is, and the attendant tells them that a blue SilEighty is dominating the road.
