The Project Proceeds Apace (進行するプロジェクト, Shinkō Suru Purojekuto, "Ongoing project") is the sixty-fifth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Iketani tells Kenta that Takumi isn't at the gas station, and Kenta says he'll be back. He says that he came to challenge him to a race on Akagi, which surprises Iketani. He asks Kenta if it's an official challenge from the Takahashis, but Kenta tells him that they don't know about it. Iketani tells him that he'll pass on the message, but that it's unlikely that Takumi will accept. Kenji and Yuichi are both surprised about the challenge, as Takumi has already beaten their best racers. Yuichi thinks that Takumi would learn a lot from Akagi, though that would be true of any course he races on.

At a diner, Keisuke is shocked when Ryosuke tells him he's starting a new team, but he reassures him that the RedSuns will stay as they are. He explains that he wants to create a team to race teams outside of Gunma on their own courses. He says he would take a leadership position, and leave the racing to other drivers. Keisuke suggests the other members of the RedSuns, but Ryosuke says he would be the only member good enough. He tells Keisuke that they're going to have to check out all of the local courses for racers good enough to join them.

The next day, at school, Takumi and Natsuki talk about his job. Natsuki jokingly offers him a million yen, and wonders what he'd do if she did. Itsuki runs up to Takumi, and tells him that the RedSuns are heading to Myogi to face the NightKids.
