Akagi Showdown (赤城山決戦, Akagiyama Kessen, "Battle on Mount Akagi") is the ninety-third chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Seiji tries to use his car to block the Eight-Six from taking the inside, but can't due to the wear on his tires. Takumi leaves the turn in the lead. Keisuke tells Fumihiro and Kenta that the race is over, as there is nowhere else that the Evo IV can pass. Kenta finally realises that he was out of his league challenging Takumi. The race ends with the Eight-Six passing the finish line first, and the lookouts excitedly report the news to the Speed Stars at the top of the mountain.
A few hours later, the Speed Stars celebrate Takumi's victory. Iketani is amazed that Takumi was able to win, and wonders when Takumi's luck will run out.
A furious Kyoichi slaps Seiji for not following his instructions. Seiji tells him that he couldn't figure out Takumi's technique, and Kyoichi tells him that he would have been able to see if he had driven behind like he was told. He says that while their plans to dominate all of Gunma are over, they still need to win against Ryosuke on Akagi. The other members of Emperor wish to get revenge on the Eight-Six, but Kyoichi tells them he doesn't want to hear about it until they beat the Red Suns.
The next day in Shibukawa, Itsuki is still excited about the race. Itsuki asks Takumi if he feels the same, but he tells him that he isnt. He explains that he's tired of racing on Akina, as he couldn't have won that race on any other course. He decides that he wants to race only on other courses in future.
