The Boy She Likes (好きになった男の子, Suki ni Natta Otokonoko, "In love with the boy") is the ninety-eighth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Papa tells Natsuki that she'd best hurry to get ready, as he needs to get her home.

Itsuki asks Takumi if he's dating Natsuki, and Takumi repeats that they're just friends, which Itsuki doubts. Itsuki tells him that she's into him, but Takumi doesn't believe it.

Natsuki tells Papa that she can't see him anymore, as she's in love with someone else.

In the Benz on the way home, Papa pleads with Natsuki to think over her decision. He tells her he doesn't mind her having a boyfriend, and offers to buy her more expensive gifts, which she declines. The Benz is passed by Emperor, who are headed to Akagi. Natsuki tells Papa that she met him for love, but that she feels their relationship has devolved into purely sex, and that she wants more out of a relationship. She says that most people would see it as compensated dating, but that she never believed it was, and so it has to end. Papa asks if she really likes the boy that much, and Natsuki says she isn't sure yet. She tells him how she'd been to where he works earlier just to see him, and that she knew she had to end it when she saw his face.

At the Fujiwara Tofu Store, Takumi receives a phone call from someone claiming to be Natsuki's friend. She tells him that he should stay away from Natsuki, because she meets a salaryman for sex in the evenings. The caller hangs up, leaving Takumi confused.

Papa drops Natsuki off, and asks her to meet him one last time, just to talk.

Emperor arrive on Akagi. Keisuke asks Ryosuke what they're going to do about it, and Ryosuke says that he was expecting them. He asks Fumihiro to send a message to everyone in the RedSuns.

  • A panel with Natsuki drawn nude was censored in the Tokyopop release.
    • Unlike the scene in Chapter 006, this censorship is maintained in the Kodansha USA re-release.
  • On page 5, a bubble has been redrawn to fit the dialogue, as it was much shorter in the Japanese release.
