Kyoichi's Superlative Skill (さえわたる京一のテクニック, Saewataru Kyōichi no Tekunikku, "Kyoichi's Skilled Technique") is the one hundred and third chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Takumi barely misses the guardrail as he takes the corner, something the spectators think even the locals wouldn't try.
Keisuke wonders why the Evo III's backfiring sounds so different, and Ryosuke tells him that he has a misfiring system installed. He says that Kyoichi is highly skilled in low speed turns due to his participation in gymkhana, which makes him a threat in Akagi's early corners. Ryosuke admits that he has improved a considerable amount since they'd battled the year prior.
No matter what Takumi does, Kyoichi is able to follow him flawlessly through the corners, with the space between them barely changing.
Keisuke asks Ryosuke if he's learning anything about Kyoichi's technique. Ryosuke says Kyoichi's priority is avoiding mistakes, and that he identifies his opponents weak spots before exploiting them, taking the simplest route to victory. He says that Kyoichi only cares about winning efficiently, which is why he only drives a 4WD. Ryosuke thinks that he is uninterested in testing his skills, because he tunes his car up to where he cannot lose.
The sound of Kyoichi's misfiring system starts to annoy Takumi. Kyoichi admits that Takumi's skill is unbelievable, but that its clear that he doesn't know the course very well. He decides to make his move.
