The Virtues of Horsepower (馬力(パワー)の代償, Pawā no Daishō, "The price of power") is the one hundred and fortieth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Kazumi remembers Wataru telling her that with the turbocharger he'll have more power in the straightaways, and will be able to challenge tougher opponents.

Takumi begins to panic about his tire losing grip, and thinks that this might be the end of the race for him. Despite the tire, Takumi is able to keep up with Wataru through the turns, and he realises that Wataru must be experiencing the same issue.

The race continues into its fourth lap, and Wataru reckons that he can hold out longer with the damaged tire than Takumi can. Both cars have to limit their power, as not to spin out.

At the bus station, Kazumi is amazed by how long the race is taking. She remembers Wataru telling her how much her loves the Eight-Six, and that she shouldn't stick with what feels safe, otherwise she'll lose. She understands what he means.
