Kogashiwa's Career (小柏のキャリア, Kogashiwa no Kyaria, "Kogashiwa's Career") is the one hundred and sixty-third chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

At the gas station, Bunta tells Yuichi about his call from Ken, and reckons that he's using Kai to settle their past rivalry. He says that when he passed Kai on Akina he could tell that he had skills. Yuichi doesn't think Bunta should think that Takumi will lose, but Bunta doesn't know if Takumi can win against him on Irohazaka.

At school, Itsuki asks Takumi when he's going to head to Irohazaka. Takumi says he'll probably head there tonight, shocking Itsuki, who asks if he can come along. Takumi agrees, but tells him not to get his hopes up, as he's unsure if he will win.

Kai shows up at a café, and meets his old motorcyclist friends. His friends talk about how he could be the best on Irohazaka, and how he's made them consider swapping to cars. Kai says that bikers normally handle cars better, as they had to pay more attention to the road.

At school, Natsuki sees Takumi and Itsuki, and hides. Itsuki says he's going to go to the gas station, but Takumi doesn't want to show up to work on his day off. Natsuki thinks to herself that hiding from Takumi doesn't make anything better between them. She realises that she doesn't have anything to lose trying to change his mind, as he's already angry with her.

At the Fujiwara Tofu Store, Bunta sits in the Eight-Six, and is surprised by Takumi returning home. Bunta asks Takumi if he's going to race Kai, and Takumi says that he is. Bunta tells Takumi that Kai is out of his league, and he'll need some advice in order to win.

At Lake Chuzenji, Ken offers Kai a strategy to beat Takumi.
