Dreams (遠い夢に向かって, Tōi Yume ni Mukatte, "Towards a Distant Dream") is the one hundred and eighty-eighth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Takumi, Itsuki and Natsuki graduate. Natsuki and Takumi run into each other in the hallway. Natsuki says that she's going to celebrate with her friends briefly, but that she'll meet up with him after to talk.
At the gas station, Yuichi is surprised to see Bunta pull up in the Eight-Six, as he expected him to be at the graduation. Yuichi notices that the Eight-Six has its summer tires equipped, which Bunta explains was at Takumi's request.
Later, at the Fujiwara Tofu Store, Takumi tells Bunta that he's going out in the car. Bunta tells him the car is summer ready, and Takumi thanks him, which surprises Bunta.
Takumi picks up Natsuki, and she asks if they can go to Lake Akina. Takumi tells her that it's freezing, but she says that she'd like to visit one last time.
At the lake, Natsuki tells Takumi that she doesn't feel like leaving, as she can't bare to leave him. She asks him to come to Tokyo with her, so that they don't have to be apart, but he tells her that he cant leave right now. Natsuki doesn't understand why, and he says that he'll tell her, but that he has to show her something, and he can't until its dark. Natsuki assumes it must be something sexual, but Takumi shuts her down.
That evening, at the top of Akina, Takumi tells Natsuki that he's been thinking about what his dream is since fall, and he's come to realise that he wants to be a professional driver, the best the world has seen. He says that she's the only person he is going to tell.
