Leaving (旅立ち, Tabidachi, "Departure") is the one hundred and ninety-first chapter of Initial D. This is the final chapter of the Akina's Eight-Six arc.
Plot[]
The next day, at the gas station, Iketani and Itsuki realise that it must be about time that Natsuki would be leaving. Iketani wonders how Takumi must be feeling, and Itsuki imagines he probably feels the same as when he dropped of Kazumi when she left. Yuichi says that Natsuki isn't the only one moving on after graduation, both Takumi and Itsuki are moving on too.
At the train station, Takumi and Natsuki wait on the platform. Natsuki tells Takumi that she'll be staying in student accommodation, as her parents thought an apartment would be too expensive. Natsuki's train approaches and she asks Takumi not to move on too quickly. He tells her that he doesn't have any plans to start looking, and she jokes that she might get a good looking guy in Tokyo, which Takumi is displeased by. Natsuki gets on the train, and tells Takumi that he can call her if he gets lonely. Takumi asks her if she'll be alright, and she says she will. She tells him to be good, as the doors slide closed. Natsuki finds a seat as the train leaves, and begins to cry. She thinks that she'll treasure all the time she spent with Takumi, as without him she wouldn't have any good memories of her time in high school. She wishes him luck in achieving his racing dreams, saying he'll always have a fan from afar. She thinks that it must have been destiny for the two of them to be apart, but that nothing can take away her memories.
On the platform, Takumi watches Natsuki's train leave. He walks back to the Eight-Six, and wonders to himself what his future will bring.
