He Who Controls the FF (FFターボを操る男, FF Tābo wo Ayatsuru Otoko, "The Man Behind the FF Turbo") is the two hundred and twenty-eighth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

With Takumi now in the lead and Daiki unable to retake because of his worn tires, Project D win the downhill race. Daiki apologises to the other students for losing, but tells them that not only was the Eight-Six fast, but he didn't realise their plan until it was too late. He warns Sakai to be careful in his race. Ryosuke and Fumihiro congratulate Takumi on his victory, and tell him to rest for a while. Takumi finally feels as though he's earned his place on the team.

Keisuke greets Sakai, and asks if his Integra is naturally aspirated, becoming interested on hearing it has a turbocharger. Ryosuke tells Keisuke that the Todo School have chosen to take the lead, and that they'll likely try and win in the first run. Keisuke says that he felt like Sakai was a smart racer, so he isn't intending on drawing the race out.

The race begins.

  • Sakai says his Integra has a "Rear attached turbo". This is likely because of a misread, as the first kanji in 後付け ("retrofit"), means rear.
