Quick Decision (Part One) (短期決戦, Tanki Kessen, "Short Battle") is the two hundred and twenty-ninth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Keisuke and Sakai race through the corners.

Kyoichi and Seiji spectate along the course. Seiji is amazed by how Takumi beat Daiki on the downhill, and asks Kyoichi if he thinks the Todo School aren't as good as they used to be. Kyoichi tells him that according to some Todo graduates that he is friends with, Daiki's EK9 is one of the fastest cars the school has ever produced. He speculates that Takumi might have improved significantly since either of them had last seen it in action, and Ryosuke has likely attributed to that.

At the bottom of the course, Kenta is surprised that Ryosuke's advice to Takumi made sense, but doesn't understand why he hadn't offered any to Keisuke.

Sakai thinks back to a conversation he had had with Todo regarding adding a turbocharger to his car. Todo believed that adding a turbo to an engine with VTEC was a crazy idea, but Sakai argued that he wanted to stick with his Integra, instead of swapping it out to a higher displacement FR.

Keisuke is surprised that Sakai is able to get the traction he is out of an FF on the uphill. He apologises to Ryosuke, as he thinks the race will be tougher than he had anticipated.
