The Record Painted Over (Part Two) (塗り替えられたレコード (後編), Nurikae Rareta Rekōdo (Kōhen), "The Record Rewritten (Continued)") is the two hundred and thirty-seventh chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Daiki is amazed that Tomoyuki could break the record in his car, but Tomoyuki tells him that he wasn't going as fast as he could, as the car isn't tuned as well as it could be. The old boys think they won't be able to lose with Tomoyuki on their side, but he tells them that he won't be racing for them, as they need to handle their own messes.

Todo agrees with Tomoyuki, saying that the students need to figure how to get past the wall they've hit, but so does he. Tomoyuki confesses that he's on a major losing streak, but he can't figure out why he keeps making mistakes, and that is causing him to make even more. He asks Todo for advice, and he tells him that he's looking at the problem wrong. He tells him that he should participate in a local race, which shocks Tomoyuki, as Todo himself had told him not to waste time on the public roads after going pro. Todo explains that the answer to his problem might be found on the public roads, and that he should do it even if he thinks its wrong.

In Shibukawa, Bunta returns from a test driving the Eight-Six, and commends Project D's mechanics on their work. Bunta wonders if having tuned that way makes it easier for Takumi to win, but he says that the opponents are tougher to match. Takumi wonders if their future opponents will be even tougher, and Bunta tells him that no matter if he wins or loses he will learn something from the race.
