The Hotline (ホットライン, Hottorain, "Hotline") is the two hundred and thirty-eighth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Bunta tells Takumi that he should come to terms with the fact that the Eight-Six won't always be able to win, as it will help him deal with a loss when it happens. He says that he's considering buying another car, as Takumi is so frequently using the Eight-Six, but he won't say what kind.

The next day, Ryosuke receives a call from Kyoichi Sudo, warning him not accept the rematch with the Todo School. Ryosuke says that as long as its on a different course with a different driver then they'd accept the challenge. Kyoichi tells him that their driver will be Tomoyuki Tachi, one of his former classmates who has become the Todo School's most successful graduate after going pro. He advises Ryosuke that Project D don't stand a chance against Tomoyuki, but if they do accept the challenge then Ryosuke himself should go up against him.

Tomoyuki practices on Happogahara, and Daiki marvels at his skill and speed in the school's demonstration car.

At the bottom of the course, Tomoyuki tells Todo that he has no complaints with the car. Todo asks him what he needs out of the car, but Tomoyuki is unsure.
