The Victor's Starting Line (勝利へのスタートライン, Shōri e no sutātorain, "The starting line to victory") is the two hundred and forty-second chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Across Tochigi and Gunma, fans are excited for the rematch between the Todo School and Project D.

In Shibukawa, Masashi Suzuki visits Bunta, and tells him that a friend of his has a car that he can test drive, but it probably wont be to his liking as it is a four-wheel drive.

Fumihiro and Matsumoto meet at a café. Fumihiro notes how difficult it is to organise and motivate Project D without Ryosuke's presence. He wonders if Ryosuke thinks neither Keisuke or Takumi stand a chance against Tomoyuki, as it would explain why he has been acting so weird. He believes the only other possibility is that he thinks the Eight-Six is their best shot.

In the support van, Ryosuke wakes up.

That night, Ryosuke finalises the setups for the cars. The Todo School arrives, and Keisuke is surprised to see headmaster Todo. Takumi and Keisuke both are able to tell who Tomoyuki is, based on how different he feels to the other students. Ryosuke calls the pair over, and tells them after reviewing the previous days data he has decided that Takumi will be the one racing.
