Chapter 262

A Time to Grow (成長の証, Seichō no Akashi, "Proof of Growth") is the two hundred and sixty-second chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

The S15 pulls up in front of Takumi and the SpeedStars, and its occupants introduce themselves as racers from Tokyo. They check out Itsuki's Eight-Five, and are interested by the fact that it is turbocharged. The pair rhetorically ask if any of them drive on the circuit, and goad the group by saying that they will need to have better cars than an Eight-Five to do so. Iketani snaps, telling them that they don't want their advice, and that they aren't impressive for passing a low performance car on the uphill. The pair drive off, parking a short distance away, leaving the group annoyed.

In Takasaki, Fumihiro tells Ryosuke that Kenta had crashed after trying to drive with his headlights off like Takumi. Ryosuke says that Takumi makes other racers measure themselves against him, and Kenta hopes one day to be able to beat him. He comments on how amazing Takumi's leap in skill since joining Project D is, but doubts Takumi has even realised.

Iketani realises that the racers from Tokyo are likely waiting to ambush them when they leave on a run, and decides that they should race them. Kenji asks if he's sure, as they seemed confident, leading to Iketani asking Takumi to be his insurance.

The two racers wait impatiently for Iketani to start driving, and follow him as soon as he passes them. Iketani is confident that he'll be able to win on the downhill.
