Pre-Battle Jitters (バトル直前!!ゆれる心, Batoru Chokuzen!! Yureru Kokoro, "Just Before The Battle!! Wavering Heart") is the two hundred and sixty-ninth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Keisuke tells Fumihiro about how rough the course is, and how he is trying to adjust the FD's height, but can't get it right. Fumihiro asks if Keisuke has noticed Kyoko, as she's had her eye on him the whole night. Keisuke hadn't noticed, and doesn't really care who their driver is, as he intends to win either way.
The next day, Kyoko tells her friend that Keisuke is her opponent, much to her shock. Kyoko intends to drop out of the race, but her friend convinces her to drive by saying that she could get to know him through the race, and seduce him in the process.
That night, Nobuhiko tells his teammates what he had learned from observing Project D. He is impressed with the skill that Takumi had shown, and doesn't think anyone on the team could beat him. He instead decides to focus on the uphill race, as Kyoko stands a better chance of beating Keisuke.
Kyoko heads off on a practice run, but her car breaks partway through, causing her to have to pull over. During one of his runs, Keisuke finds her, and Kyoko tells him that her car has been feeling off since the other day, but that it now feels like it's lost all power. Keisuke tells her that she should have made sure her engine was working properly during daylight. He is disappointed that he has to go up against someone who can't take care of her own car, as he had been looking forward to racing with her.
