Picking up the Pieces (大きな代償, Ōkina Daishō, "A High Price to Pay") is the three hundred and thirty-eighth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Aikawa approaches Project D, and goads Keisuke by saying that the corners are tough on the course. Keisuke accuses him of pouring the oil on the road, which Aikawa feigns offense over. Keisuke threatens him before Fumihiro intervenes. Aikawa calls Project D a group of thugs, and says they shouldn't have agreed to race with them. Fumihiro apologises for Keisuke's actions, but says they will need to postpone the race for a week to repair the FD. Aikawa says that they can't postpone as they have plans for the following weekend. He says that they can pick any replacement car they want, but if they aren't there when the race is scheduled then they will forfeit the race.

Keisuke is annoyed about the whole situation. Ryosuke tells Takumi and Matsumoto to focus on the Eight-Six, but to split the course to avoid the oil until it is cleared up. Keisuke asks what they're going to do about the FD, but Ryosuke tells him it is pointless to try and fix it, as they don't have any time. He says Keisuke should rest up, as he won't be racing. Keisuke refuses, as he doesn't want to let the other team get away with what they have done, but Ryosuke shuts him down, saying that it is his own fault that the FD is wrecked.

Kenta thinks that Ryosuke is being too hard on Keisuke, but Keisuke disagrees, explaining that Ryosuke would have been able to avoid it. He knows he's at fault for falling into their trap, and wonders how he can redeem himself.
