Sudden Turn for the Worse (急転直下, Kyūtenchokka, "A Sudden Turn") is the three hundred and fifty-fifth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Ichijo notices they are nearing a long straightaway. He takes the inside line of the upcoming corner, but suddenly loses grip part way through, having slipped on the remnants of the oil they had spilled the night before. Takumi takes advantage of this, and steals the inside line, taking the lead for himself. Ichijo underestimates the Eight-Six, as he thinks his horsepower can regain him the lead. He pulls alongside Takumi in the straightaway, which is actually a long gradual right.

Localisation Differences[]
Tokyopop/Kodansha USA (2019) version[]
- The narrator says the Eight-Six is a "10-6 Non-Turbo", instead of a 1.6 Non-Turbo. This is likely because the Japanese uses "Ten Roku" (テンロク), which is commonly used to describe 1.6L engined cars[7]. It's possible a translator mistook the "Ten" for the English 10.
