The Middle Stretch (中盤戦, Chūban Sen, "The Middle") is the five hundredth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Takumi takes a corner, and Kai is surprised by something. He reminds himself to stay alert, as he's lost before.
The members of Katagiri talk about the MR-S, and how the tuning options for its engine are limited outside of a turbocharger. Kai doesn't like a turbocharger, claiming he can win without power, which Minagawa attributes to his pride. Minagawa thinks that regardless of the cars tuning, Kai can win just with his cars light weight.
Ken admits that he did want to brag about Kai, but notes how strange it is that Kai and Takumi are facing each other again. He wonders if it is fate, but Bunta believes it is just a coincidence. Bunta doesn't like how sure Ken is of Kai's victory, but Ken claims Kai has a 90% chance of victory.
