The Mental Battle (Part 2) (心理戦 (後編), Shinri Sen (Kōhen), "Psychological Warfare (Continued)") is the five hundred and ninth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
The members of Katagiri hear from a lookout that Kai has managed to close the gap, though with so little distance before the finish it will likely go into a second round.
Fumihiro wonders if Takumi can lose Kai, as he's more used to driving chase. Ryosuke says Takumi's skill driving chase shows that he has potential to succeed when driving in the lead. He reveals that he had already agreed a strategy with Takumi if he was to drive in the lead, and that Takumi still had a card up his sleeve.
The two cars enter a corner before a short straight, and Kai takes a wide arc in order to hit a late apex, giving him a faster entry to the straight.
