Mother And Child (Part 2) (母と子 (後編), Haha to Ko (Kōhen), "Mother and Child (Continued)") is the six hundred and fourteenth chapter of Initial D.

Plot

Mrs. Inui agrees with Kubo that Shinji sees racing as a game, as he always seems happy to drive. She says that she never offered him any advice, so his driving style was entirely instinctual, but he brakes as little as possible. She imagines he learned to drive so smoothly because he wanted her to be able to sleep well on their drives home. With Go taking an interest in him, he's got theory and technical basics that he didn't have before. Mrs. Inui believes that Shinji knows the Tsubaki Line by heart, and that while he has limits, they're higher than other racers.

The next day at the gas station, Itsuki can't stop thinking about tomorrow's race. Iketani and Kenji wonder who's car they should take, and Itsuki volunteers his Eight-Five, though they shoot the idea down. Yuichi offers his car, as it's more roomy than any of their coupés, on the condition that he doesn't drive.
