The Battle Quickens (加速するバトル, Kasoku Suru Batoru, "The Battle Speeds Up") is the six hundred and thirty-fourth chapter of Initial D.

Plot

Keisuke is unnerved by Go's driving, as he is pulling away without Keisuke making any mistakes. He thinks that the real battle starts here.

Matsumoto thinks that the NSX's speed must be surprising for Keisuke, as he has only faced cars with forced induction. Ryosuke doesn't think it will effect him as much, as Takumi's driving style is based around making the most of his naturally aspirated engine, so Keisuke will be very familiar with seeing them in action. Ryosuke reveals that because they knew they would be facing an NSX early on, he and Keisuke had time to prepare.

Localization Differences

Kodansha USA (2019) version

• Matsumoto says that all of Keisuke's previous opponents on the hillclimb were turbocharged, however one of his opponents (Wataru Akiyama) drove a supercharged car. This line is mistranslated, as he is saying Keisuke's opponents have all had forced induction (Supercharged or Turbocharged) in the Japanese.
