The battle between Takumi Fujiwara vs Daiki Ninomiya is the twenty-seventh battle of Initial D.
Prior to the Battle[]
Project D arrive at Enna Skyline to face their next opponent, Todo School. Daiki is set to race Takumi Fujiwara in the downhill course, while Smiley Sakai will take on Keisuke Takahashi uphill, though the Todo School graduates want to race as well. The alumni tell both drivers that if they lose the race, they will have to pay 1,000,000 yen, which Daiki disagrees. The Todo School alumni then laugh.
During the Battle[]
Ryosuke advises Takumi to not look in his rearview mirror before the battle, and to deliberately withhold the upper 2,000 RPMs of the engine. As the battle starts, Takumi and Daiki are evenly matched with Daiki choosing to be the chaser. Daiki notes that the AE86 is more powerful than he expected, and pressures Takumi. With no clear winner, a second round begins; Daiki is confident that Takumi cannot keep up with his pace as the runner.

However, Daiki is unable to break away, and realizes that he underestimated Takumi by wearing out his tires. When the EK9's grip suffers, Takumi seizes the opportunity and overtakes Daiki.
After the Battle[]
Daiki admits to Smiley that he lost, and warns him not to be fooled by Project D. Meanwhile, Ryosuke praises Takumi for his win, and both teams prepare for the next battle.
