As the leader of Sidewinder, Go Hojo set up Kanagawa's four lines of defense against Project D, which would allow for Sidewinder to gather information on Project D's drivers and prepare them for their final battles. Hojo was present for all of Project D's battles with the four lines, being accompanied by Eiji Kubo, his advisor. The four lines of defense worked as intended, giving Hojo and Kubo enough information to prepare Hojo for his battle with Keisuke Takahashi, Project D's uphill ace.
On the night of the final battles, Go is visited by his brother Rin, who wishes him luck and tells him to have fun. Go begins in the lead, with Keisuke following behind. Rin's words initially caused Go to be less focused than he wanted. Entering section two of the course, Go clears his head of what Rin had said, regaining his focus and allowing him to pick up the pace and increase the distance between himself and Keisuke. Despite Go's efforts, Keisuke manages to keep up with his NSX. The shock of this causes Go to slowly falter, causing the race to go into a second round. Go starts the second round following, with Keisuke in the lead. At the same point where Go had attempted to pull away in the first round, Keisuke shoots ahead, and slowly manages to pull away bit by bit. Not contempt with losing, Go follows him as close as he can, and begins to start having fun with the race. Go realizes that the way that he's pushing his car is causing his tires to lose traction. In an attempt to catch up to Keisuke, Go spins out, causing him to lose the race.
