He is first seen with Shoichi and Akio at the top of Akina, hoping to see the Eight-Six that beatTakeshi Nakazato. They noticed something coming towards them, wondering if it was they were looking for, only to be disappointed that it was another car. Of the trio of street racers, Hiromichi is the most outspoken, as he threatened to call the police on Takumi and Itsuki if they were too underaged to drive. He then proceeded to criticize Itsuki's car, saying that he knows nothing about how to keep an Eight-Six. When Itsuki reveals that his car was really just an Eight-Five, he taunts Itsuki by claiming that mufflers for an Eight-Five are no longer in production. As they take their leave, Hiromichi jokingly tells Itsuki to avoid getting tailgated by a scooter.
A furious Takumi chases after the street racers down the mountain pass, and Hiromichi was surprised at how fast Itsuki's Eight-Five was. Eventually, Takumi overtakes him using the gutter technique. As the three of them park, the trio wonder if they had seen a ghost.
