Initial D Fourth Stage Vol. 1 is the first video release for Initial D Fourth Stage. It saw three different releases: two rental versions on VHS and DVD, and one retail release on DVD. This release includes the first two Acts of the anime and was initially available on June 11, 2004, for rentals and on June 16, 2004, for retail.[2] The release features the first battle of the Project D arc, between Takumi Fujiwara vs Toru Suetsugu.
The retail release peaked at number five on the Oricon DVD Chart with an estimated 22,008 units sold in its first week.[3][4] It remained on the charts for a total of 14 weeks, with total sales estimated at 44,169 units.[5][6]
