The impromptu battle between Koichiro Iketani and Shingo Shoji is the seventh battle of Initial D.
Prior to the Battle[]
Iketani was practicing his e-brake skills on the mountain near the starting line of Akina while Itsuki and Kenji was commenting on his skills. Later on he decides to check out his racing skills downhill. As he was thinking of Takumi's skills on racing, he suddenly noticed a red EG6 Civic, driven by Shingo Shoji (not known to Iketani at that time) tailing behind him. He decided to have a quick battle with him.
During the Battle[]
Shingo pursued Iketani until he bumps on him from behind, though Iketani maintains control at first. Later on after nearing a long corner, Shingo bumps Iketani once again, this time causing him to spin out. Iketani chose to spin out on purpose so that he won't crash into the guardrail. As Shingo passes the S13, he reads the racing team's name written on the car. Iketani wanted revenge and chases after him.

Shingo brake checks Iketani
On seeing the S13 chasing him and getting close, Shingo suddenly feint brakes right in front of him, which causes Iketani to brake sharply and lose speed. Shingo then speeds away from Iketani. After a few corners, Iketani fell behind, on seeing Shingo was cornering faster by braking on the corners, which rather surprised him.
After the Battle[]
Later on, the next day at the gas station, Iketani explains the events to the SpeedStars and Yuichi. Yuichi explains the left foot braking technique used by the EG6 driver, which helped him corner faster in an FF car like the Civic.

Trivia[]
- In the manga and First Stage, Iketani was driving alone on Akina to practice his skills when he had the encounter with Shingo. Whereas in Legend 2, Iketani and the rest of Akina SpeedStars were going to Mount Akina when Shingo decided to ambush Iketani's car.
- Since Takumi was following them in Legend 2 when Shingo bumped Iketani, Shingo immediately challenged Takumi to a downhill duct tape deathmatch and the battle between those two immediately happened.
