Mako Sato's Nissan SilEighty (RPS13), known simply as the SilEighty (also spelled Sil80) is the signature vehicle of the Usui Pass based duo, Impact Blue. It is driven by Mako Sato, with Sayuki as her navigator and co-pilot.

History[]

After seeing Ryosuke Takahashi racing as a solo racer, Mako Sato became inspired to become a racer, getting a car and practicing racing daily. It is unknown what this first car was, be it the SilEighty or its original 180SX version, or something else entirely. At some point, Mako's childhood friend, Sayuki, joined her as her navigator, with the two of them being known as Impact Blue, named after the colour of their car. The two of them eventually became the fastest racers on Usui Pass, their home course.

After watching the battle between Takumi Fujiwara and Ryosuke Takahashi, Mako decides that she wants to race against Takumi, as she wishes to stop racing and settle down. Mako starts seeing Koichiro Iketani, leader of the Akina SpeedStars, from whom she hides her racing background, as she doesn't want him to see her as just a racer. After Iketani finds out that she is the fastest on Usui, she asks him to persuade Takumi to race her, offering Iketani her virginity in exchange. Iketani tells her that he'll ask Takumi, declining the offer of her virginity, feeling that it would just be using Takumi to get with Mako. (The battle between Takumi and Mako is before the race between Takumi and Ryosuke in the anime version).

Takumi and the members of the SpeedStars arrive on Usui for the race. The race would be a cat and mouse format, with one driver following the other. Takumi starts behind, against the recommendation of the SpeedStars. Takumi manages to keep up with Mako throughout the course, much to her and Sayuki's amazement. The SilEighty drifts through the whole of C=121, one of the most difficult corners on the course, at a very high speed. The two of them are shocked when Takumi manages to perfectly mirror them through the corner, coming out the other side unscathed. Sayuki admits defeat, however Mako still believes that they have a chance and snaps her out of it. Just when they manage to pull away from Takumi, Mako enters into a corner too hard, causing her to spin out.

Later, during Emperor's Gunma sweep, Ren Nogami and Satake come to Usui to challenge the local teams. Impact Blue represent Usui, racing against Satake, who crashes after entering corner C=121 too fast. During the winter, Mako starts seeing a member of the Myogi NightKids, known as Miyahara. After Miyahara says that he wants to settle down, Mako shows him that she wants to become a racer, taking him on a downhill run.

Exclusively in the anime, Mako and Sayuki also used the SilEighty to battle a group of drivers in a black Toyota Altezza.

Mako eventually becomes a professional racer with her SilEighty. She travels to Kanagawa with Sayuki to watch Takumi's final battle with Project D against Shinji Inui.
