Seiji Iwaki's Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV RS (CN9A), known as the Lan Evo, or as the Evo IV, is the signature vehicle of Emperor member Seiji Iwaki.

History[]

Manga/Anime/Legends[]

As the number two driver for Emperor, Seiji Iwaki watches the battle on Myogi between the Keisuke Takahashi of the Akagi RedSuns and Takeshi Nakazato of the Myogi NightKids, getting info on the course and the racers before Emperor begins their Gunma sweep. Seiji is unimpressed with the two racers, and comments that there's not much point staying for the next race, as one of the racers is driving an Eight-Six. After the battle between Kenta Nakamura and Takumi Fujiwara ends, Seiji overtakes Kenta, much to his shock.

In an anime exclusive battle, Seiji defeats a Thunder Fire racer.

Seiji later passes Itsuki Takeuchi's Eight-Five whilst on a drive up Akina. At Lake Akina, Seiji asks Itsuki for directions, with Itsuki asking him if he was the Lan Evo seen on Myogi. The two of them get into a small argument when Seiji says that the Eight-Six is an outdated car that would be unable to compare with his Evo, something that Emperor leader Kyoichi Sudo seconds. Seiji later drives Kyoichi to Akagi to talk with Ryosuke Takahashi, leader of the RedSuns to challenge him for a rematch. They are now convinced to race the Eight-Six upon hearing from Ryosuke losing to him which confirms Itsuki was telling the truth.

Emperor's Gunma sweep begins with Seiji battling against Nakazato on Myogi, a battle that he easily wins when Nakazato falls behind and crashes into a concrete barrier.

Emperor then heads to Akina, to battle with Takumi and the Akina SpeedStars before racing Ryosuke. At orders from Kyoichi, Seiji doesn't take the lead at the beginning, instead staying behind to watch Takumi's technique. Becoming impatient, Seiji easily overtakes on a straightaway. Despite the Evo IV's power, Takumi is able to keep up with him, as he is faster in the corners. Takumi uses a gutter run to come alongside Seiji during a corner and overtakes. Sudo chastises Seiji for not following his plan, explaining that if he had stayed behind he would have been able to see all of the Eight-Six's techniques.

On Akagi, Seiji races against Keisuke, in a race that he loses. Seiji also lost a battle against Kai Kogashiwa on their home course, the Nikko Irohazaka.

Live Action []

During a downhill run on Mount Akina, Seiji Iwaki bumps into the back of Itsuki Tachibana's Eight-Six, thinking that the car was Takumi Fujiwara's Eight-Six. Seiji parks his Evo IV in the road, causing Itsuki to crash. After goading the two of them he drives off, with Takumi following behind in Itsuki's Eight-Six. Takumi manages to catch up to Seiji, who loses control of his car and crashes through a guardrail, colliding with a wall.

The car is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV RS, chassis code CN9A. It is painted in Scotia White. In the Live Action movie, it is represented as a Lancer Evolution IV GSR[1].

  • In the Tokyopop vehicle specs pages of Volume 8, an image of Kyoichi Sudo instead of Seiji Iwaki is shown next to the car.
  • This is one of the few cars in the series to feature a stock interior.[10][11][better source needed]
  • The car's license plate "46-637" may be a reference to it's engine codename "4G-63T".
